When Do You Need to Update Your ABC ID?

Your ABC ID Card is linked to your academic and personal details. Over time, certain information may need to be corrected or updated. Common scenarios include:

  • A spelling error in your name or date of birth
  • Change of enrolled institution due to transfer
  • Update to your programme or course details
  • Linking a new mobile number to your DigiLocker/Aadhaar
  • Re-generating your ABC ID after a gap in studies

Keeping your details accurate is important because your ABC ID is used for credit verification, institutional transfers, and scholarship documentation.

Method 1: Update via the ABC Portal (abc.gov.in)

Step 1: Log in to the ABC Portal

Go to abc.gov.in and click on "Student Login". You will be redirected to DigiLocker for authentication.

Step 2: Access Your ABC Profile

Once logged in, navigate to your ABC Dashboard. Here you will see your current ABC ID details including your name, institution, and programme.

Step 3: Request a Correction

If your details are incorrect, look for the "Edit Profile" or "Raise a Request" option. Note that some fields (like your name) are pulled directly from Aadhaar — to correct those, you must first update your Aadhaar details through the UIDAI portal.

Step 4: Update Institution/Programme Details

For changes related to your institution or enrolled programme, select the appropriate field, choose your new institution from the dropdown, and confirm. Your institution's admin must also verify and approve this change on their end.

Method 2: Update via DigiLocker

  1. Log in to digilocker.gov.in or the DigiLocker app
  2. Go to "Issued Documents" and locate your ABC ID
  3. If the document shows outdated information, click "Refresh" or "Re-fetch Document"
  4. If the issue persists, the correction must be made at the source (ABC portal or Aadhaar)

Method 3: Contact Your Institution's Nodal Officer

Every registered institution has a designated ABC Nodal Officer — typically a staff member in the registrar or examination department. If portal-based corrections aren't working, you can:

  • Submit a written request to your institution's Nodal Officer
  • Provide supporting documents (Aadhaar, admission letter, marksheets)
  • The Nodal Officer can update your academic details directly in the ABC institutional portal

Updating Your Aadhaar-Linked Information

Since your ABC ID is tied to your Aadhaar identity, any corrections to your name, date of birth, or gender must first be made via:

  • The UIDAI self-service portal (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in)
  • A visit to an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre

Once Aadhaar is updated, your DigiLocker and ABC ID information will sync automatically upon next login.
